In what concerns visa requests, consider the following deadlines:
Deadline for filing an application
Visa applications should be filed three months in advance in maximum and 15 days prior to the visit in minimum.
Holders of multiple entry visas can file an application before the expiry date of the valid visa for a minimum period of six months.
Applicants may be required to take an interview before applying. As a general rule, the interview should take place in the two weeks following the request date. In cases of justified urgency, the consular post may exempt the applicant from being interviewed or concede an immediate interview.
Information on prior consultation
In compliance with Article 22 of the Visa Code, Member States, during the examination of applications for short stay visas (with the exception of airport transit visas) lodged by nationals of specific third countries or specific categories of such nationals, may require to consult central authorities of other Member States. In such cases, the analysis of the application can be extended for an additional 7-day period.
Deadline for decision on an application
Decisions on visa applications should be taken within 15 calendar days from the date the application has been considered admissible.
However, in some cases, this deadline may be extended for a maximum period of 30 calendar days, namely when further examination of the application is required, or in case of representation, when the authorities of the represented Member State are consulted.
In exceptional circumstances, in certain cases where additional information is required, the deadline can be extended for a maximum period of 60 calendar days.
